Biden Accused Of Waging War On Small Business

( President Joe Biden is facing intense pressure from business groups who accuse him of hurting economic recovery in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The United States Chamber of Commerce slammed the president on Friday after the April jobs report was released, showing unemployment rising to 6.1% and only 266,000 new jobs being added to the national economy.

It was the worst jobs report since the Great Depression.

“The disappointing jobs report makes it clear that paying people not to work is dampening what should be a stronger jobs market,” the Chamber of Commerce said.

With Democrats refusing to budge on unemployment benefits, huge numbers of Americans are believed to be taking government benefits rather than going back to work – likely because, for many people, the benefits are either substantial enough to live off or more than their usual salary.

The Job Creators Network also slammed the president. CEO and President of the group, Alfredo Ortiz, released a joint statement with Stephen Moore, the founder of the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, describing how President Biden was hindering economic recovery.

“As we’ve been saying all along, the extension of unemployment benefits would hurt our recovery, and now we are seeing that in real time. Additionally, President Biden’s relinquishing leadership to the teachers union on reopening schools has prevented people from getting back to work. Kids should be back in the classroom, and — once summer comes — back at camp. The science shows that it’s safe and it will allow parents to get back to work,” the statement reads.

The statement added that America is “poised to renew its pre-Covid boom” except that the “Biden Administration needs to stay out of the way.”

That means no new taxes, Mr President.

The organizations argued that the minimum wage proposals and raising taxes is a “war on small business” and it’s hard to disagree.

Bill Dunkelberg, the chief economist at the National Federation of Independent Business said effectively the same thing, too.

“Many small business owners who are trying to hire are finding themselves unsuccessful and are having to delay the hiring or offer higher wages. Some owners are offering ‘show up’ bonuses for workers who agree to take the job and actually show up for work,” he said.

If President Biden stays out of the way, America could be back to its Trump-era economic successes.
