Kamala Harris doesn’t believe there’s a crisis at the border, but if you spend even a minute listening to officials on the border, you learn that’s not true. In fact, the problem is so big that illegal aliens are no longer just opportunists from South America – they’re coming from “special interest” countries and pose a significant threat to our national security.
In a significant development at the Texas-Mexico border, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers, as part of Governor Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star, arrested 27 “Special Interest Aliens” within a large group of migrants who had illegally crossed the Rio Grande north of Eagle Pass. These individuals, hailing from countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Egypt, and India, raise heightened national security concerns due to their travel patterns, which may indicate connections to terrorism, though no specific ties have been confirmed. The group was among 230 migrants apprehended on Monday, as reported by Texas DPS.
“Special Interest Aliens” are defined by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as individuals who, based on their travel routes and behavior, may pose a potential threat to the United States’ national security. However, it is important to note that the designation does not automatically imply terrorist activity but rather necessitates further investigation and screening.

In addition to the Special Interest Aliens, 41 individuals from countries such as Brazil, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Argentina, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic were also arrested and charged with criminal trespass. The arrests highlight the ongoing challenges at the southern border as law enforcement agencies continue to face large numbers of illegal crossings.
DPS Director Steven McCraw emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “It is this type of activity, these attempted illegal crossings between the ports of entry by people coming from areas that are hot spots for terrorist activity, that clearly highlight the concerns of Governor Abbott and the state of Texas.” He added that these individuals are not merely seeking asylum but are attempting to evade detection and may pose a threat to the country.
Earlier the same day, Texas Army National Guard soldiers and DPS troopers arrested a total of 271 migrants in two separate incidents, with the group of 230 being the largest encountered in recent months. According to a source from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the increase in large group crossings is a worrying trend, with recent enforcement efforts in Mexico slowing the migrant flow but still leaving significant challenges for U.S. authorities.
Adding to the security concerns, DPS agents in Laredo uncovered a stash house linked to a deported felon, Roger Valero, a confirmed member of the Paisa gang, an independent drug trafficking organization. Valero was arrested after being located during the investigation.
Kinney County Attorney Brent Smith weighed in on the issue, noting the severe risk posed by unvetted individuals crossing the border. “The severity of this issue cannot be overstated in the security risk that is created by unvetted Special Interest Aliens entering the United States from countries who wish us harm,” Smith said.
Since the launch of Operation Lone Star in March 2021, more than 47,000 criminal arrests have been made, underscoring the scale of the problem and the efforts being made by Texas authorities to safeguard national security. Despite these efforts, many law enforcement officials believe that a large percentage of illegal crossings remain undetected, further amplifying the risks associated with unsecured borders.
Thank God that Texas is taking this crisis seriously while the federal government ignores it.
