Fans of Katie Holmes, the Dawson’s Creek star who broke through to adult success with her turn as a cynical bayou-dwelling murder victim in 2000’s supernatural thriller The Gift, has aroused concerns among her fans after stepping out for a walk in New York City sporting a black eye.
The actress wore a black T-shirt and white pleated casual pants as she strolled around Manhattan in black ballet flats, and carried a leather purse slung over her shoulder. She also wore diamond earrings and carried a phone in her hand instead of her pocket. All the while, she seemed to make an effort to use the brim of a dark baseball cap to distract from and hide the shiner rimming the underside of her left eye.
No information pertaining to the extent of her eye injury, or its cause, has been made available to the public, and Katie has not commented at all about what may have happened to her face.
The forty-something mother has been busy in her personal life, recently, as Suri—her daughter with ex-husband Tom Cruise—has just hit a major milestone. The eighteen year-old scion of Hollywood royalty graduated high school—specifically, the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Performing Arts, which is quite prestigious—in June, and shortly after she was caught smiling and hugging her mother outside the United Palace Theater in New York while still sporting her graduation outfit: a white dress and chic high heels worn under her bright red graduation gown. Afterwards, Suri hung around on the street in Manhattan to extended chats with family and friends.
Proud mother Katie Holmes wore silver pumps, a yellow sweater, and matching slacks, accenting the outfit with a pair of sunglasses to shield herself against the brightness of the summer day. Suri’s father was not present for the occasion.
This autumn, Suri will be heading off to study at Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Mellon University.
