CPAC Official Accused Of “Battery” In New Lawsuit

(Republicaninformer.com)- Last week, an unnamed Republican operative in Georgia filed a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against American Conservative Union chairman Matt Schlapp and his wife over claims of sexual battery.

Earlier this month, the operative, who worked as a campaign aide to Georgia Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker, told NBC News that during a car ride after a night of bar-hopping in Atlanta last October, Schlapp “reached in between my legs and fondled me.”

The operative, listed as “John Doe” in the lawsuit, is seeking $9.4 million from Schlapp and his wife Mercedes on four civil counts related to allegations of sexual battery and claims that the Schlapps and others attempted to “discredit” him, according to the lawsuit.

In a statement last Tuesday, Schlapp’s attorney Charlie Spies called the complaint “false” and said Schlapp and his family have suffered “unbearable pain and stress due to the false allegation from an anonymous individual.”

Spies said that the Schlapps are considering a counter-lawsuit.

In an interview earlier this month, the operative claimed that Schlapp invited him to meet at an Atlanta bar. He agreed to go thinking that a connection to Schlapp would help him professionally.

According to “John Doe,” as the evening progressed, Schlapp began intruding into his personal space. Then, as the operative drove Schlapp back to his hotel near the airport, Schlapp placed his hand on “John Doe’s” leg. When arriving at the hotel, Schlapp invited “John Doe” up to his room, but he declined.

In a video he recorded later that night, “John Doe” claimed that Schlapp, “grabbed my junk and pummeled it at length.” He said, “To my shame, I did not say no or stop.”

The lawsuit alleges that the Schlapps, in conjunction with allies, worked to discredit “John Doe” after the story first broke. In one example cited in the complaint, Mercedes Schlapp sent a message to neighbors describing “Doe” as a “troubled individual” who had been fired from multiple jobs, including for lying. According to the lawsuit, “John Doe” has never been fired from any job for lying.
