Crenshaw’s victory was part of a wider victory for the Republican Party in Texas.
Michael Bloomberg, former presidential candidate and billionaire media mogul, reportedly spent as much as $100 million on campaign ads in the state in an attempt to flip the state blue.
It failed miserably.
At 84% reporting, the race in Texas stood at 52.3% for President Donald Trump and 46.3% for Democratic candidate Joe Biden. The president had a massive lead of over 600,000 votes.

Crenshaw will now serve a second term as a member of Congress. He quickly became one of the most recognizable faces of the Republican Party when he first won in 2018. A former Navy SEAL, he has gained a huge amount of support within the party and respect from moderate Democrats.
At least, from the moderate Democrats that still exist.
Crenshaw defeated candidate Sima Ladjevardian, an immigrant from Iran. Ladjervardian moved to Houston in the 90s and served as a member of the Hillary Clinton national finance committee in 2015. She was also a member of Beto O’Rourke’s failed senate campaign in 2017.
Responding to the news, she said that her “grassroots movement fell short.”
“But no matter the disappointment of these results, our campaign has so much pride to take in,” she added. “We shattered voter turnout records, held the congressman accountable for the health of our families, our economy, and our democracy, and changed the face of Texas politics in the process.”
