(Republicaninformer.com)- The Democratic Senator from New Jersey, Bob Menendez, is being investigated for criminal activity by the federal government – AGAIN.
According to CNN, the investigation of Menendez is being carried out by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
In October 2017, Democratic Senator Bob Menendez stood trial on charges of accepting bribes. He was accused of collecting more than $700,000 in cash related to his campaign and thousands of dollars in free hotel rooms and plane flights, which brought the total number of criminal accusations against him to twelve.
Four hookers admitted that they had participated in sexual encounters in the Dominican Republic with Salmon Melgen and Senator Bob Menendez (Democrat of New Jersey).
After the jury in the bribery trial against Menendez could not decide for more than a week, the judge eventually declared a mistrial and dismissed the case.
According to a statement released to CBS News by a political advisor working for Menendez, it is not apparent what the extent of the probe is.
Michael Soliman, the New Jersey Democrat’s veteran political strategist, told CBS News that Senator Menendez is aware of an investigation announced today.
The strategist said that, as always, the senator is available to provide any assistance that he or his office may seek, and he is prepared to do so if any official inquiries are made.
According to a report published by The New York Times, United States Senator Bob Menendez, who avoided conviction on corruption charges five years ago, is currently the subject of a federal investigation connected with a New Jersey-based company that certifies halal meats exported for sale to Egypt.
According to a report published late last week in The New York Times, FBI agents have been collaborating with United States prosecutors in the Southern District of New York in an investigation looking into the business dealings of IS EG Halal, a New Jersey start-up company that had no known experience in halal certification according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Although the scope of the investigation is unknown, according to two persons familiar with the investigation, the search is now being linked to the current probe of Menendez, who chairs the influential Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
