(RepublicanInformer.com)- Former President Donald Trump hit out at President Joe Biden’s disastrous handling of the United States withdrawal from Afghanistan, describing how the U.S. has been humiliated by the scenes of people falling off of planes and American citizens being abandoned in the country.
During an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Trump said that this “conditions-based agreement” with the Taliban was forceful and understood by the Jihadist group, describing how he had a “very strong conversation” with the co-founder of the Taliban, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund.
He described how he told the Islamist leader that before any negotiations took place, he should know that if anything bad happens to Americans or American allies – or if the Taliban ever enters U.S. territory – then they will be hit with a force that “no other country has ever been hit with before.”
Trump said that he even named Akhund’s village, and said it will be the first place to be attacked by the American military if the Taliban were to break the conditions.
Now that’s a deterrent.
Trump added that during his administration, he canceled a trip to Washington, D.C., for Taliban leaders after an American was killed.
He added that he asked the Taliban co-founder if he understands the conditions of the agreement, to which he responded, “I do understand.”
Imagine if President Joe Biden had followed through on these threats. Just how different would conditions in Afghanistan be today?
Trump also told that he never had “a lot of confidence” in President Ashraf Ghani, the president of Afghanistan who fled the country when the Taliban took over. He said that the former president was a “crook” who “got away with murder” and that he spent most of his time wining and dining American senators – who were “in his pocket.”
He added that he doesn’t think the United States has ever been as humiliated as it is now and said that the botched withdrawal is the “greatest embarrassment in the history of our country.”
That’s hard to argue with…even for Democrats.
