Billionaire Elon Musk blasted those not willing to stand up for what is right and said Christianity will perish. Users on X relentlessly mocked him for his position and shared images of Musk wearing a suit of armor with the satanic symbol Baphomet on the chest and an upside-down cross. The Tesla CEO and X-owner only posted a brief statement calling for more bravery but didn’t specifically say what will cause Christianity to perish.
The post came shortly after his interview with Jordan Peterson dropped in which Musk declared that he is a believer in the “principles of Christianity.” The day before his post, Musk called the Olympics opening ceremony disrespectful to Christians as controversy ensued. Many Christians on the social media platform agreed with Musk and said the opening ceremony depicted the Last Supper with a cast of drag queens and transgender performers.
The artistic director Thomas Jolly said he was not inspired by the Last Supper, but rather a “pagan celebration” with the “gods of Olympus.” Other reports have said the ceremony was inspired by the Feast of Dionysus, who was portrayed as the blue man during the opening ceremony.
A pastor responded to Musk’s post by differentiating the difference between “nominal Christianity” and “biblical Christianity.” He said that true Christianity can never perish, because Christ will never perish. It seems that Musk was referring specifically to the principles of Christianity as he discussed with Peterson on his podcast days earlier.
Musk, during his post about the Olympics opening ceremony, stated that Paris would be on fire if the artistic directors had dared to mock the religion of Islam and its Muslim followers. Cartoonist Kurt Westergaard depicted the prophet Muhammad with a bomb in his turban in 2005, which sparked deadly protests and death threats against Westergaard.
South Park famously portrayed Muhammad in an episode of the show, but Comedy Central would not show the depiction without censoring it. Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of the show, attempted to make a statement that fear and intimidation tactics would not work. Comedy Central has not aired the episode again and received threats of violence if they ever fully depicted the prophet.
