Donald Trump’s new line of gold watches has drawn sharp criticism from men’s fashion expert Derek Guy, who described the collection as overpriced and of poor quality. The former president recently announced the launch of the “Official Trump Watch Collection” on Truth Social, offering watches priced between $499 and $100,000, with some featuring gold and diamond embellishments.
Trump’s promotion of the limited edition “Trump Victory Tourbillon Watches,” which include almost 200 grams of gold and over 100 diamonds, has been positioned as a collector’s item. However, Guy, who runs the popular @dieworkwear account with over 1.1 million followers, took issue with the quality of the watches, suggesting that they are overpriced due to Trump’s name rather than craftsmanship. He criticized the collection’s use of non-Swiss materials and cheap movements, stating, “The goal here is just to make money.”
Guy wasn’t the only critic, with MSNBC anchor Willie Geist also weighing in, remarking on the rising costs of supporting Trump, as this watch collection follows a series of other high-priced merchandise, including medallions and sneakers. Despite the criticism, Trump continues to market the collection, emphasizing its exclusivity, with each watch numbered and signed by him.
The watches are available for pre-order, but a disclaimer on the website clarifies that Trump is not directly involved in their production or sale. Nevertheless, Trump’s latest venture has sparked conversations about the commercialization of his campaign and the value of the products tied to his brand.
We think the Trump watches actually look pretty good. What about you?
