(RepublicanInformer.com)- Louisiana Republican Senator Bill Cassidy predicted on Thursday that former President Donald Trump won’t be his party’s nominee for president in 2024. A claim that he, frankly, doesn’t know for sure.
Speaking to Fox News Radio, Senator Cassidy was asked by Brian Kilmeade about the news that Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney has been ousted by the House GOP from her position as House Republican Conference Chair. And to no surprise – given that Senator Cassidy voted to impeach former President Donald Trump in the second failed impeachment trial – he sided with Cheney.
“We absolutely feel like we need a Republican Party which is committed to conservative values that will bring it forward,” Cassidy told Kilmeade.
“As regards the president … returning to power, he lost. We lost the House. We lost the Senate. We lost the presidency and four years. Hasn’t happened since Herbert Hoover. Parties and elections are about winning. So, if you just want to brass tax it, we need to win,” he continued.
Presumably he also believes that the 2020 election was the “most secure” election we’ve ever had…
Cassidy claimed that voters in swing districts did not vote for the Republican Party, which was not actually the case. President Donald Trump won more votes than any other president in history, and President Joe Biden won the presidency based on an unprecedented number of additional votes coming from the more densely populated parts of swing states.
President Donald Trump won 2,547 counties while Joe Biden won only 509.
Doesn’t that sound kind of…fishy?
When Cassidy was asked about whether he would vote for Trump if he was the next Republican nominee, he simply responded, “He’s not going to be our nominee.”
But President Donald Trump stated recently that he believes his supporters will be “very happy” when he makes an announcement about his possible intentions to run for president again.
Cassidy and Cheney could be very unhappy when 2024 comes around…
