(RepublicanInformer.com)- When she learned that the White House was considering asking Saudi Arabia to increase oil production to help increase global supplies and make up for the loss of Russian imports, Squaddie Ilhan Omar was big mad.
Was she mad because Biden would rather beg Saudi Arabia for oil than lift the sanctions he imposed on the US energy sector?
No. Not at all.
Ilhan Omar was mad because she supports the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen’s civil war.
In a huffy Twitter thread this week, the socialist Minnesota congresswoman blasted the White House for considering what she called a “wildly immoral act.” Omar railed over the civil war in Yemen where she claimed Saudi Arabia is causing “the worst humanitarian crisis on the planet” by backing the pro-government forces fighting the Iranian-backed Houthis.
Well, for the time being, Ilhan has no reason to get her knickers in a twist because President Biden’s calls to both Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates went unanswered.
According to the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, both Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the UAE’s Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan turned down invitations to speak with President Biden to discuss rising oil prices and “turning on the spigot” of Saudi oil.
A US official told the Journal that there was an expectation of a phone call between the Saudi crown prince and the president, “but it didn’t happen.”
This shouldn’t come as a galloping surprise.
US relations with Saudi Arabia took a turn for the worse after Joe Biden became president. Under the Biden administration, the State Department lifted the terrorist designation on the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen. What’s more, the Saudis are none too happy about the Biden administration’s determination to reenter the ill-advised nuclear deal with Iran.
While those moves might meet the approval of Ilhan Omar, neither aren’t especially popular in Saudi Arabia.
