(RepublicanInformer.com)- Joe Biden’s White House is reportedly beginning Iran to return to the negotiating table following a three-month hiatus of discussions. It comes after Iran has formally completed its recent government transition, installing new hardline Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
A senior Biden White House official reportedly said on Thursday that American patience is “wearing thin” (where have we heard that before?) and that any new delays in returning to the negotiating table over a return to compliance with the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal may lead to Western nations deciding that the deal is longer worthwhile.
President Donald Trump famously withdrew from the failed deal, which allowed Iran to perform its own inspections to determine it was compliant with provisions on developing nuclear weapons and weapons-grade uranium. As it stands, the deal is still in effect with a number of European countries including France and the United Kingdom.
The unnamed Biden White House official said that Iran has indicated a willingness to return to the discussions but has not offered a date yet.
Meanwhile, remaining parties in the deal, which also includes China, Russia, Germany, and the European Union, have all agreed that that returning to talks as soon as possible is essential.
One great irony of all of this is that it proves President Donald Trump right all along.
Iran won’t negotiate, and they won’t give up until sanctions placed on the country – for the most part by the Trump administration – are withdrawn. If Iran also won’t return to negotiations soon, it could also mean that European nations do precisely what the former president did and abandon the deal altogether.
Either that happens, or President Biden finally caves and just gives Iran what it wants.
What do you think is most likely?
According to the United Nations atomic watchdog, Iran is “increasingly” in violation of the original deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action.
