Vice President Kamala Harris is facing the heat for allegedly using headphones to avoid media interaction between exiting her vehicle and boarding a plane.
The video showing Harris adjusting her headphones as the media awaited and tried to get her attention went viral. Critics claimed that she did it on purpose to avoid journalists’ questions, something she has repeatedly done since launching her presidential campaign.
One person accused Harris of “hiding behind Earpods,” adding that she is only the leader of cowards. Another wrote that Harris wanted to avoid questions about the American hostage who had recently been found dead in Hamas captivity.
Similarly, one social media user noted that Harris was busy listening to Taylor Swift’s new song, so she did not bother answering journalists. One X user noted that this is just a glimpse of what Harris’s presidency will look like, adding that her running mate Tim Walz walks away to avoid a serious question while Harris herself plugs in the earphones so that she does not have to listen to these questions in the first place.
Former Republican Congressman from Utah, Jason Chaffetz, also chimed in and called Harris “so fake.”
This came when Harris was already facing scrutiny for cooking “word salad” in her maiden CNN interview despite facing easy questions that critics call a “softball.”
While some praised Harris for sticking to the policy issues during the interview, others, including Barack Obama’s former advisor David Axelrod, suggested that Harris did not gain much from her interview.
Similarly, George W. Bush’s former assistant and political commentator, Scott Jennings, noted that Donald Trump would be extremely happy going into the September 10 debate after Harris’s poor outing with CNN.
Republican pollster Frank Luntz also dismissed the notion that Harris performed well in the interview, claiming that Trump will manage to expose her during the upcoming presidential debate. Jennings said that Trump will never allow Harris to skip any question or waste time during the debate.
After the CNN interview, Harris now faces scrutiny for avoiding more media interviews, particularly with moderate or right-leaning outlets that can test her with tougher questions that many voters like to hear.
Since starting her presidential campaign, Harris has repeatedly preferred to avoid even small media briefings, while the legacy media has also attempted not to grill her on the toughest points, such as border security and economic downturn.
In fact, most media outlets redefined her job description, claiming that President Joe Biden never put her in charge of controlling illegal immigration at a Southern border despite reporting earlier that Harris was acting as Biden’s “border czar.”
