Kamala Harris tried to make herself look relatable by chugging a beer with Stephen Colbert on CBS’ “The Late Show.”
It’s so blatantly fake. Why can’t this woman just be normal?
At a glance:
- Kamala Harris appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, sipping a beer and addressing Republican “misinformation” about FEMA’s response to Hurricane Helene.
- Harris took shots at Donald Trump, calling him a “loser” and claiming he aspires to be a dictator.
- Trump’s spokesperson criticized Harris, calling her out-of-touch for attempting to appear relatable by drinking beer.
Kamala Harris continued her whirlwind media tour by sitting down with progressive favorite Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, where she not only shared her thoughts on recent hurricanes but also let loose with a beer in hand—because nothing says “I’m just like you” quite like sipping a Miller High Life on national television. Colbert, fresh off his vacation, was so eager to host Harris that he ended a week of reruns to chat with the vice president, just four weeks before Election Day.
The vice president took a moment to scold hurricane victims for what she referred to as “misinformation” spread by Republicans about FEMA’s handling of Hurricane Helene, which has already claimed hundreds of lives. “Please know that people on the ground with FEMA are there to help you,” Harris lectured, before urging people not to listen to what she called misleading information.

Colbert, always one for a casual moment, pitched the idea of having a beer together, saying, “Elections are won on vibes. So…would you like to have a beer with me so I can tell people what that’s like?” Harris gleefully accepted, requesting a Miller High Life, which she promptly declared “The champagne of beers.”
But while Harris may have been aiming for a relatable “just one of the folks” vibe, Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung wasn’t buying it. Cheung took to social media to mock the vice president, saying, “Kamala drinks a beer to show Americans how relatable she is, but she ends up looking like an out-of-touch elitist.”
The conversation shifted to Donald Trump, with Harris, in her usual style, labeling the former president a “loser” and warning that he “wants to be a dictator on day one.” Whether the beer was helping or not, Harris certainly wasn’t holding back.
As Harris continues her media tour with multiple interviews lined up, she’s doing her best to introduce herself to the American public in her unexpected presidential run. How effective this beer-drinking, Trump-bashing strategy will be remains to be seen.
