(RepublicanInformer.com)- Joe Biden is tied up in a Ukraine scandal like you won’t believe, but the media isn’t talking about it. If President Donald Trump had done the kind of things Joe Biden did during his final days as vice president, he’d be in prison by now…but Biden seems to keep getting away with it.
The latest damning revelation is a leaked phone call between Joe Biden and then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. Biden made the call after Donald Trump had won the election, and used the call as an opportunity to undermine the incoming administration. Biden set up a backchannel for communication between Biden and the president of Ukraine.
What excuse does Biden have for this? Or will he ignore it like the media did?
The Federalist reported on the call, explaining how it was not only an attempt at undermining an incoming president but also hugely damaging to America’s national security.
“During the course of the call, Biden badmouthed the incoming administration, saying, ‘The truth o the matter is that the incoming administration doesn’t know a great deal about [Ukraine]’ and that they were unprepared for the transition,” The Federalist reported. “This in itself is inappropriate, but it was meant to set the stage for Biden’s next statement and future plans.
Biden told Poroshenko that he intended to maintain his connection to Ukraine once he left office.
“I don’t plan on going away,” Biden said in the leaked call. “As a private citizen, I plan on staying deeply engaged in the endeavor that you have begun and we have begun.”
This is a problem for several reasons, but it’s particularly a problem for Joe Biden because his actions may have breached the Logan Act. It’s a law that stops private citizens from engaging in foreign policy on behalf of the United States. Nobody has ever been convicted for breaking the Logan Act since it was signed into law way back in 1799, but there’s a first time for everything…and Biden’s attempt at undermining an incoming president is pretty remarkable.
The Federalist also aid that Biden told the then-president of Ukraine that he was “somewhat limited” on what he could tell the Trump transition about Ukraine. He said this at a time when the Federal Bureau of Investigation was conducting a counterintelligence investigation into President Trump’s alleged campaign contacts with Russia.
Investigations have since proven that President Trump did not collude with Russia, but at the time Biden didn’t know this. Despite that, Biden was aware of the ongoing investigation and maintained contact with Ukraine’s leaders despite it.
Will the media ever pick up on this call, or will it be forgotten by tomorrow?
