MyPillow CEO and Trump ally Mike Lindell is under fire for what many people believe was a hidden Nazi message in an advert. Lindell has reduced the price of some of his pillows to an unusual amount of $14.88, which observers say contains a Nazi dog whistle. The phrase “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children” is known as “14” in some political circles, while 88 refers to the eighth letter of the alphabet repeated twice as HH – or Heil Hitler.
When posted on social media, the ad prompted raucous debate, with some people insisting he could not have decided on a $14.88 price tag without knowing what the figures signify. “The scam pillow guy is a Nazi moron,” one user said, while another wrote, “I mean, I guess you need pillows to go with those white sheets.” Others, however, suggested it must have been a coincidence.
Reporters contacted Lindell about the scandal, and he vehemently denied any knowledge of Nazi-related symbolism. “I have no idea what this is all about,” he said, adding that 88 cents is a common price point that his company has used several times in the past. “It had nothing to do with whatever you guys are trying to make it out to be,” he told New York journalists.
The pillow magnate angrily claimed that he has been the subject of several smear campaigns because he is a conservative and, more recently, because he has called for hand-counted paper ballots at his year’s Presidential election. He said he and his company have been “attacked relentlessly” since he publicly declared his belief that the 2020 election was rigged against Donald Trump.
Mr. Lindell has faced a number of lawsuits in recent years, including from Dominion Voting Systems, who sued him for defamation over his election fraud allegations. A Dominion employee filed a separate suit while voting company Smartmatic filed a third. Last year, his legal problems went from bad to worse when his attorneys refused to continue representing him because he owed them money he apparently could not pay. Parker Daniels Kibort LLC (PDK) and Lewin & Lewin LLP refused further services, saying Lindell owed them millions of dollars.
