(RepublicanInformer.com)- NASA revealed how five fireball sightings were spotted across the United States on Friday evening. The sudden arrival of the meteors resulted in “many reports” according to NASA Meteor Watch’s Facebook page.
On Saturday, the social media account described how there was the largest number of eyewitness accounts on record, with more than 80 people coming forward to describe how they saw fireballs hurtling through the sky at around 7:40pm ET on the coast of North Carolina.
The post added that an analysis of the accounts reveals that a meteor skimmed the North Carolina coast and then became visible some 48 miles above the ocean near Camp Lejeune. The rock was headed northeast and traveling at a speed of 32,000 miles per hour.
Just take a look at this incredible footage.

If you didn’t know any better, this would look like a pretty terrifying earth-destroying event…
The American Meteor Society also revealed that some 171 reports of a meteor falling through the sky were made by people from all over West Virginia, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Maryland.
What would you do if you saw something like this?
And…shouldn’t NASA have issued some kind of warning so people knew not to be scared?
