Legendary British rockstar Ozzy Osbourne is having a tough time lately. Not only is his health slowly failing him, to the extent that he has even stated he is unlikely ever to perform or tour again, but he also just lost his 15-year-old dog.
The 75-year-old Prince of Darkness showed his soft side in an Instagram post last Thursday when he revealed how his dog, Rocky, passed away after 15 years of companionship. And it wasn’t a Rottweiler or a Pit Bull, by the way – the Prince of Darkness expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of his tiny Pomeranian.
Ozzy shared the news on all his social media platforms, writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, that she lost his friend.
“Two days ago I lost my good friend Rocky who has been at my side for 15 years,” Osbourne wrote. “I’ll see you on the other side my friend. I love you always.”
The post quickly went viral, with as many as 3million views by August 24, just two days later, and thousands of reposts and comments. Osbourne fans flooded the comments with commiserations and photographs of their own pets who they have lost in recent years.
“Very Sorry to hear that Ozzy,I recently lost my little Girl “Gracie”after 14 Years, never easy,Wish You all the Best,” one user wrote.
“Such a cute pup. Sorry for your loss and I pray that God gives you comfort and peace in this difficult time,” another user said.
In an Instragram post, Ozzy’s wife, Sharon Osbourne, also expressed her sadness at the loss. In a post accompanied by a video of her dog, Osbourne said that she lost an “OG” (original gangster).
“We lost an OG and Ozzy’s partner in crime,” she wrote.
Osbourne remains a very public figure, continuing to release music and even appearing in regular podcast episodes with his family. His deteriorating health, however, has reportedly delayed his planned move back to the United Kingdom. In July, the Osbournes revealed that plans they made in August, 2022, were delayed because of ongoing treatment.
“We’re trying to get on a flight,” the 75-year-old rockstar said in response to a question from a podcast listener.
We’re sure our readers will join us in wishing the Osbourne family all the best. Well, maybe everyone except Kelly.
