As Prince Harry arrived to get ready to take the stage at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles for the ESPY Awards, a tiny plane was seen flying above the event, carrying an ominous message.
Thursday night, the Duke received the Pat Tillman Award, a military award, in a controversial ceremony. (Pat Tillman’s mother felt the award should go to someone less wealthy and privileged.)
However, around one hour before the start of the ceremony, a plane was seen circling overhead with a banner directed towards the monarch.
“Prince Harry: Investigate Mumi’s Death” was written on the banner.
Whoever paid to have it flown around Hollywood before the glamorous event remains a mystery.
What seems obvious to some but got past others is that the banner has a typo. It seems logical that the message was supposed to say, “Investigate Mum’s Death,” – a reference to the controversy surrounding the death of Princess Diana, who conspiracy theorists believe was murdered.
The official report is that her driver was inebriated and was speeding away from the paparazzi when he lost control and slammed her Mercedes into a wall.
The plane arrived just before Harry was about to receive the gong at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where he is expected to win the prize.
In the hours before her hosting responsibilities, tennis great Serena Williams escorted a slew of celebrities down the red carpet.
Williams, with her light blonde hair styled in bouncy waves and a silver and black gown, made quite an entrance as she walked the red carpet.
Mary Tillman expressed her amazement and dismay last month when she learned that Prince Harry would receive her son’s prize.
She said that she was not even asked for her opinion while choosing the winner. She said that there are recipients who are far more deserving, people who lack Prince Harry’s privilege, wealth, connections, and resources. She emphasized the need to acknowledge those kinds of people.
The honor is given in memory of Pat Tillman, a former NFL player who put his lucrative career on hold to join the military following 9/11. Tillman sadly was killed in 2004 while serving in Afghanistan.
