(RepublicanInformer.com)- Last week, during an interview on a New York sports show, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that by 2026, soccer would become the number one sport in North America, surpassing the NFL.
North America won the bid to host the 2026 World Cup which will be played throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The World Cup games played in the United States will be held in NFL stadiums in 11 cities.
To promote soccer’s World Cup coming to America, Infantino jokingly suggested that by 2026, soccer will be “the number 1 sport in this part of the world.”
When one of the hosts pointed out the existence of the NFL, Infantino joked, “we’ll take care of them.”

Will soccer surpass the NFL as America’s favorite professional sport?
It seems unlikely.
Our disinterest in soccer is just as puzzling to the rest of the West as their obsession with soccer is to us.
