(RepublicanInformer.com)- There has been a lot of talk in the press about possible tensions between former President Donald Trump and Republican Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis.
After former President Trump slammed politicians who refused to reveal whether they had taken the booster shot as “gutless” – a clear dig at Governor DeSantis who had that same week refused to tell the press his vaccination status – the former president’s son is now insisting that there is no tension between them at all.
During an interview with Candance Owens on YouTube on Thursday, Eric Trump said that there is “no friction” between his father and the Florida governor and that Trump actually “believed” in DeSantis and helped him win the Florida gubernatorial race back in 2018.
“In fact, you know, I remember campaigning actively for DeSantis back in the day and frankly I’ve always remembered how thankful he was,” he said.
Trump went on to say that without his father and the support he gave him, DeSantis may not have gotten over the line and won the 2018 gubernatorial race.
Now, though, even Democrats are accepting that they are not likely to win in this year’s re-election campaign.
One of the theories behind why the former president and DeSantis may have some tension is that both men are considering running in the 2024 presidential election.
Former President Donald Trump’s Save America PAC is already investing heavily in a future campaign, while Governor DeSantis has not indicated his intention so far. Nor has there been any indication that he has any interest in running at this point anyway.
What do you think – is Trump concerned that he may be forced to run against DeSantis?
