(RepublicanInformer.com)- Now that former President Donald Trump has been acquitted in the second witch hunt impeachment trial, reports suggest that he is planning to get back into the political arena and take revenge on Rep. Liz Cheney and other Republicans who voted to impeach him.
According to the Washington Examiner, former President Donald Trump’s team has disclosed plans to get back into public and political life, and following through on a plan to primary challenge Republicans who don’t subscribe to the Make America Great Again agenda.
“Early on, we’re told he’s likely to make trips to the districts of the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach him, starting with the House GOP leader Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming,” The Examiner reported.
The outlet also said that the former president’s network, including his two sons, will begin campaigning against those 10 House Republicans to remove them from Congress in the 2022 elections.
Earlier in February, Donald Trump Jr. confirmed that he would go to Wyoming to campaign against Rep. Liz Cheney.
“I hear it’s lovely during primary season,” he said in an interview with Politico’s Playbook.
But Cheney doesn’t seem to think she did anything wrong. Speaking to Fox News Sunday, she said that people in the party who criticize her for opposing President Trump’s campaign for election integrity are “mistaken.”
“They believe that BLM and Antifa were behind what happened here at the Capitol,” she added. “It’s just simply not the case, not true and we’re going to have a lot of work we have to do.”
Regardless of who stormed the Capitol Building, Cheney’s vote to impeach means she agrees that the former President incited an insurrection on January 6. However, on Saturday night the Senate voted to acquit the former president.
‘The single greatest threat to our republic is a president who would put his own self interest above the Constitution, above the national interest,’ she also told Fox News.
Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida also flew to Wyoming in January to campaign against Cheney, meaning the odds are already stacked against her.
President Donald Trump could be gearing up for a massive campaign.
