Donald Trump has hit back at Barack and Michelle Obama for their speeches at the Democratic National Convention. Trump called Michelle Obama “nasty” and said they were both hypocrites because they had called for a less personal and more policy-based approach before going on to insult him personally, even making a joke about his genitals.
Speaking at a press conference in Asheboro, North Carolina, the former President said he tried to be nice to people, and he had only recently stated that he respected the Obamas, but it was hard to continue to feel positively toward them when they hurled such personal insults.
During her 20-minute speech, former First Lady Michelle Obama said Donald Trump would write the same script about Kamala Harris that he did about her and her husband and attempt to make Americans fear them. She said that in Trump’s “limited view of the world,” successful and hard-working black people are a threat. She then asked, “Who is going to tell him” that the job he is currently seeking “may just be one of those black jobs.”
Former President Obama also got the verbal knives out for Trump, saying he was afraid of losing to Kamala Harris and this had made his “childish” behavior worse. At one point, Obama said Trump was “obsessed with crowd sizes” while he simultaneously made a clear hand gesture equating crowd sizes with unmentioned parts of the male body.
Turning his attention to Vice President Kamala Harris, Mr. Trump once again referred to her as a “radical Marxist” who has “ruined everything in her path.” The Vice President spoke on the final night of the DNC and attacked Trump for taking away people’s rights and giving tax cuts to billionaires. She promised tax cuts for the middle classes and said she would protect abortion rights. Harris also alluded to Project 2025, the conservative Heritage Foundation blueprint for a second Trump Presidency, and said both the Foundation and the former President are “out of their minds.”
Mr. Trump furiously posted to his Truth Social media account throughout the speech and asked why Harris did not mention several vital issues, including fracking, China, or energy.
