Trump Takes Action on America’s Health Crisis

President Donald Trump has taken a significant step towards addressing the nation’s growing health concerns by establishing the Make America Healthy Again Commission – a group that wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless work of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the new Health and Human Services Secretary.

The initiative, launched through an Executive Order, aims to investigate and tackle the root causes of America’s escalating health crisis, with an initial focus on childhood chronic diseases.

The commission, chaired Kennedy, has been tasked with producing an assessment of the childhood chronic disease crisis within 100 days. This assessment will include international comparisons to provide a comprehensive understanding of the situation.

Then, they’ll have just a few years to make big changes – and Kennedy himself has promised to make a huge difference within just a handful of years.

Addressing Alarming Health Statistics

The urgency of this initiative is underscored by alarming health statistics. Six in ten U.S. adults have at least one chronic condition, and four in ten have two or more. The United States also has the highest age-standardized cancer incidence rate among 204 countries, with an 88% increase in cancer from 1990 to 2021.

These health issues pose significant threats not only to national health but also to the economy and security. Chronic diseases impact military eligibility and result in substantial economic costs, with 90% of healthcare expenditure going towards managing these conditions.

The Make America Healthy Again Commission has four main policy directives: ensuring transparency in health research, prioritizing research on illness causes, collaborating with farmers for healthy food production, and expanding treatment options. Within 180 days, the commission will develop a strategy to improve the health of America’s children based on its assessment findings.

The commission will scrutinize the use of common medications, including stimulants, and evaluate mental health interventions and weight-loss drugs. It will also assess the effectiveness of federal data on childhood health and current child health education and funding programs.

A key goal of the commission is to restore trust in medical and scientific institutions. Public trust in the U.S. health system is currently low, with only a third of Americans expressing confidence. To address this, the commission will hold public hearings and events to gather expert input and ensure transparency in its processes.

The order also suggests potential changes to health insurance coverage to include expanded treatment options and support for lifestyle changes and disease prevention.

America cold finally shake off the stereotype of being a fat, unhealthy nation – for the good of everybody!
