(RepublicanInformer.com)- Last week, Truth Social CEO Devin Nunes made a claim on Fox Business that prompted a vehement denial from Elon Musk.
During an appearance on Fox’s “Varney & Co.” Nunes claimed that former President Trump “basically” suggested to Musk that he buy Twitter. Nunes said the goal of Truth Social is to create a “community” that is “family-friendly” and safe. He told Varney that was why “we encouraged Elon Musk” to buy Twitter “because someone has to take on tech tyrants.”
When the New York Post tweeted a link to an article about Nunes’ claim, Elon Musk replied to the tweet flatly denying that Trump had anything to do with his decision to purchase Twitter.
In the reply, Musk called the claim “false” and said he “had no communication, directly or indirectly” with the former President, adding that Trump had recently said he would be exclusively on Truth Social.
The New York Post contacted Trump’s media company, Trump Media & Technology Group, but a spokesman declined to comment on Musk’s unequivocal denial.
In an attempt to clarify his remarks, on Friday Nunes posted to Truth Social that the story was Fake News. He said both he and Trump have clearly stated their position and there had been “no secret or anything QUIET we’ve been very vocal and public.”
Was Nunes saying it was fake news that they encouraged Musk to buy Twitter? It’s on video, so why call it fake news?

While speaking at a virtual conference on Tuesday, Musk said Twitter permanently suspending Trump was a “morally bad decision” and “foolish in the extreme.”
Musk suggested that banning Trump alienated a large segment of the country while not preventing Trump from having a voice. He said he preferred temporary suspensions and other narrowly tailored punishments when people post content that is illegal or “destructive to the world.”
Last month, the former president said he had no intention of returning to Twitter if his ban was lifted. In an interview on Fox, Trump said while he hoped Elon Musk makes improvements to the platform, he would stay on Truth Social.
