(RepublicanInformer.com)- Tucker Carlson and Mark Levin, both Fox News personalities, have terminated their boycotts of Twitter.
Following a weeks-long bidding war for the platform, it was reported on Monday afternoon that Elon Musk had agreed to acquire the platform for 44 billion dollars.
A statement from Musk stated that free expression is the core of a functional democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where things crucial to the future of humankind are debated. The company and the Twitter community have immense potential, and I am looking forward to working with them to realize it.
Following Musk’s acquisition of the site on Monday evening, the two popular Fox hosts declared that they would once again use the platform.
During a tweetstorm on March 23, Carlson claimed that the Babylon Bee and Charlie Kirk had been suspended because they had referred to Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine as a man, even though she is a transgender woman.
Tucker was incredulous, saying everyone should “hold on a sec,” and that neither of the two tweets was false. Levine is a biological man.
Carlson was suspended, and he was offered the opportunity to regain access to his account if he erased the offending tweet. According to Fox News, Carlson would never do something like that, bow down to Twitter, and be subjugated into expressing regret for telling the truth.
Musk has been outspoken in his opposition to Twitter’s censorship of high-profile accounts. Following the incident in the Capitol, Twitter’s censors ordered the expulsion of then-U.S. President Donald Trump, who was in office at the time.
In the year afterward, many notable accounts, the bulk of them conservative, had been similarly targeted for suspension.
The removal of notable accounts followed a business decision in October 2020 in which individuals who posted information on Hunter Biden’s laptop were locked out of their accounts.
Musk vows never to run such a one-sided totalitarian platform that picks and chooses what “misinformation” is and punishes in kind.
