(RepublicanInformer.com)- On Saturday, Awaken Church in San Diego County featured a controversial guest speaker, Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson. Ukrainian Americans gathered and conducted a quiet protest outside.
Carlson has been accused of sympathizing with Russian President Vladimir Putin by backbiters, and he has been at odds with his network over coverage of the war.
The protesters alleged Carlson circulates pro-Russia misinformation.
They displayed strollers, car seats, and baby shoes to symbolize the more than 150 children killed by Putin’s military.
One protester called Carlson an agent of heartlessness, spreading Putin’s propaganda to an American public who are symbolically the cradle of democracy, home of the brave, and land of the free. “This is completely unacceptable by anyone,” said the protestor.
“Many victims of this war are children,” added another.
The protest didn’t deter Carlson enthusiasts who came to hear him speak.
One supporter admitted that he’s controversial but believes what he says to be true. She felt that the detractors were listening to misguided individuals about what was going on in Russia and Ukraine.
In November, in the days leading up to the invasion, Carlson asked with sincerity, “Why would we take Ukraine’s side and not Russia’s side?
The Fox host wondered aloud why we would reflexively side with Ukraine and not Russia. He said the side-taking ‘totally confused him.’
Carlson once said in 2019 that he was “rooting” for Russia. He has also denounced Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky, suspicious of why he enjoys kneejerk support from so many in the U.S. He has called Ukraine’s government highly corrupt.
He’s snarkily described that support as the largest political flash mob in American history.
Carlson has been forced to backtrack on some of his criticism of Ukraine and has been peppering his commentary with some tepid anti-Putin rhetoric. Last month referred to Putin as someone who “appears to be evil.”
Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, has applauded Fox News for its analysis of the war, saying that Fox News is the only outlet attempting to give some different points of view regarding the war.
Last month, Carlson sparked uproar when he referred to the Ukraine conflict as a “border dispute.”
Apparatchiks in Moscow are said to have directed Russian propagandists to promote Carlson’s remarks.
