(RepublicanInformer.com)- Last week, Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) posted to YouTube a clip of him taking bureaucrats from both the Trump and Biden administrations to task for “not only ignoring but working against” research on effective treatments for COVID including the use of hydroxychloroquine.
Within no time, YouTube removed the video and slapped a seven day suspension on Senator Johnson’s YouTube channel – accusing him of spreading “misinformation” about COVID treatments.
In confirming his suspension, Senator Johnson accused YouTube of “arrogant Covid censorship” and asked “how many lives will be lost as a result” of YouTube suppressing a “free exchange of medical ideas.”
YouTube claims that the video was removed “in accordance with our COVID-19 medical misinformation policies.” These “policies” bar any videos that encourage people to use hydroxychloroquine or Ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19.
In a statement on Friday, Senator Johnson accused Big Tech and the “mainstream media” of believing “they are smarter than medical doctors” adding that they have determined that “only one medical viewpoint is allowed.” And, Johnson pointed out, the one medical viewpoint coincidentally is the same “viewpoint dictated by government agencies.”
It is difficult not to conclude that YouTube, like Facebook and Twitter, are censoring users at the behest of government agencies. But censoring a sitting member of the United States Senate is brazen to say the least.
In Johnson’s now-deleted video, he expressed bafflement over the “concerted effort” to prevent the American people from any “robust exploration research” into various treatment options early on in the pandemic. Calling hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin “incredibly safe drugs,” Johnson said he wanted to see more of a focus on the topic and the studies into their use for COVID treatment.
In a May 2021 study published by medRxiv, the combination of hydroxychloroquine and zinc were found to increase COVID survival rates by 200% in cases where the patient has a severe case of the virus.
Hydroxychloroquine is a widely used malaria drug that has been around for decades. It is often used with great success in the treatment of autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus. However, last year, the FDA issued a warning against its use for COVID citing potential side-effects such as heart arrhythmia, as well as kidney and liver problems.
