Will Hunter Biden Be Pardoned?

After years of conservative media lambasting the president’s son, Hunter Biden is likely facing charges following the completion of a federal probe, according to a report by the defense and national security website 19FortyFive. The charges will include a host of crimes related to his taxes and possession of an illegal firearm. While the crimes are not what many on the right are advocating for, they might bring the president down as he seeks another term in 2024.

Biden has not openly spoken about pardoning his son, but Fox News contributor Miranda Devine reportedly said that it could be an option for the White House. Biden has framed himself as a working-class man the poorest person in Congress throughout his career, according to Devine. She suggests that he could play this card when it comes time to pardon his son because he suspects that Americans will feel bad for him for being poor and having a drug-addicted son.

During an interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhl, Biden was asked about the ongoing investigation of his son. He replied that Hunter did nothing wrong.

“I trust him. I have faith in him, and it impacts my presidency by making me feel proud of him,” he said.

The issue comes as Biden is experiencing a low approval rating with voters. 36 percent of voters reportedly approve of the job the president is doing contrasted with 56 percent who do not. Those numbers are in addition to a recent NBC poll that reportedly reveals that 70 percent of Americans do not want Biden to run for president again, including 51 percent of Democrats who think that as well.

Biden is now trailing former President Donald Trump in a new poll conducted by ABC and The Washington Post. Respondents were more likely to “probably” and “definitely” vote for Trump over Biden.
